drop-in Lessons: Privates + Semiprivates

All summer dates, May 28 - August 25, are available for booking.

The Rules

  • Swimmers must be at least 3 years old. If your child is younger than 3, check out our services for Babies + Toddlers.

  • Lesson types:

    • Private Lessons: 1 instructor, 1 swimmer

    • Semiprivate Lessons: 1 instructor, 2 swimmers. Client provides their own semiprivate partner. We do not form groups. For semis, just book one appointment time; your spot will be saved for 2 swimmers, and you’ll pay for both swimmers at checkout.

  • We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Scroll below the calendar for details!

  • Fitness Alive South Philly - 714 Reed Street, Philadelphia

  • Fitness Alive Center City - 1425 Arch Street, Philadelphia

  • Fitness Alive Creekside (outdoor pool) - Moore + Media Parkway, Wallingford

    • Creekside is available for booking July 15-August 14 only

    • Due to limited availability, we recommend purchasing single credits, instead of a 4-pack, for Creekside.

About Summer Swim Lessons

+ How Swim Lessons Work

Private lessons are 1:1. Semiprivate lessons are 2:1. Clients are responsible for forming their own semiprivate groups; Fitness Alive does not pair semiprivate partners.

Bookings are done in 30-minute increments. When a swim time is booked and paid for, it will be removed from the booking calendar.

+ Ages + Abilities

Swimmers must be at least 3 years old to participate in private or semiprivate swim lessons. If your swimmer is younger than 3, they will not be permitted to swim. Please see our Babies + Toddlers section for appropriate services for your little one.

Semiprivates are most successful when partners are of the same age and ability. If you are booking a semiprivate for swimmers of different ages/abilities, know that the swim lesson will be largely tailored to the less-skilled swimmer.

+ Pricing

Credits can be used at any Fitness Alive location.

  • Privates (30-minutes):
    • Single Lesson: $65
    • 4-Lesson Pack: $240
  • Semiprivates (30-minutes): See below for how semiprivate credits work.
    • Single lesson: $110 (total for 2 swimmers)
    • 4-Lesson Pack: $400 (total for 2 swimmers/lesson)

Semiprivate Credits: For single lesson purchases, your credit pays for 2 swimmers. For 4-Lesson Packs, each credit in your pack pays for 2 swimmers. If you plan to swim with a friend, you will need to work out repayment with your friend.

+ Cancellation + Refund Policies

There are no refunds on prepaid swim credits.

Fitness Alive has a 24-hour cancellation policy:

  • Early cancellation with at least 24 hours notice - You can self-cancel your Summer Swim Lessons with at least 24 hours notice through our website. Simply log in here to cancel from My Schedule. Your credit will go back on your account so you can book a new swim time.
  • Late cancellation with less than 24 hours notice, and no-shows - If you are attempting to cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will not be able to cancel through the website. Yours is a late cancellation, which means your credit will be charged and you will not receive a refund or ability to rebook.

+ Troubleshooting + Booking Error Messages

You may occasionally encounter an error message when using the calendar below, when lots of swimmers are trying to book at one time. Here's how to troubleshoot, and what each code means.

Error Message: "You cannot book the following because they are no longer available."
• Problem: This means another client booked the swim time you were trying to book before you were able to check out.
• Solution: Return to the calendar and pick another swim time.

Error Message: "The change you wanted was rejected. Maybe you tried to change something you didn't have access to."
• Problem: This means your cookies are not enabled.
• Solution: Enable your browser cookies through the Settings menu.

Error Message: "This account already exists. Please sign in."
• Problem: You already have an account with us and you are prevented from creating a duplicate account.
• Solution: If you forget your account password, go here to reset it.
