Swimmers must be ages 3 and up to enroll in swim lessons.
Summer Session 2026
We’re excited for Fitness Alive’s Summer 2026 Session, a 10-week session beginning Tuesday, May 26th. Kids ages 3+ and adult swimmers are welcome to enroll! Please read the following carefully as our Summer Session differs slightly from our Spring and Fall sessions.
Update, 5/7: Summer Session is fully booked for weekly lessons! If new spots are added, we will reach out to our waitlist so be sure to get on it. Or, you can book drop-in lessons instead. Summer drop-ins will be available for booking by May 18th.
How Summer Session Works
Summer Session is a 10-week intensive block of weekly swim lessons. At booking, you pick a day, time and instructor, and we reserve them for you each week for the full 10 weeks. This provides consistency and speeds your skill progression. Pricing is for one 30-minute lesson per week. You can enroll for as many lesson slots each week as you’d like.
Summer Session services include private (1:1), semiprivate (2:1) and group (3:1) swim lessons only; you can read about these types of lessons here. There are no Narwhals or Swim Skills classes in Summer Session.
We do not pair up swimmers in semiprivate or group swim lessons. You must provide your own partner(s), such as a friend or sibling, and partners should be of similar swimming ability for lessons to be successful. The max for a semiprivate is 2 swimmers and group is 3.
The 10-week block will occur on the following:
Dates: May 26 - August 6
Break Week: No lessons June 30 - July 2 for Fourth of July Break
Days and Locations: Lessons held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays only at South Philly (714 Reed Street) and Center City (1425 Arch Street).
Summer Make-ups: We know people need more flexibility in the summer. (Because, duh, vacations!) That’s why we will extend the make-up timeframe for early-canceled lessons through August 30th. This means that even though weekly lessons will end August 6th, you will have until August 30th to complete any needed make-ups. See the Cancellation Policy section below to understand when you are granted make-ups (and when you are not).

+ Session Dates + Services
We have three swim sessions per year:
- Fall (September-December)
- Spring (January-May)
- Summer (June-August)
Services available for booking during Summer Session include:
- Weekly Private (1:1) and Semiprivate (2:1) and Group (3:1) lessons for kids and adults
- Drop-in Private, Semiprivate and Group lessons for kids and adults
Adult Instructional Swim Classes and Baby Bubbles Classes will also continue on a drop-in basis. This means you book these classes one by one.
+ How Enrollment Works
When you book weekly lessons for a session, you are committing to 1 lesson each week the full duration of the session. This guarantees your swim time each and every week with the same instructor. Tuition is billed via Autopay to your credit card on file.
At the end of the term, you will need to enroll again for the next session to continue your swim lessons. Currently enrolled clients get first priority booking for subsequent sessions.
If you are unable to commit to a full swim term, please book Drop-in Swim Lessons instead. You can book these one at a time when it is convenient for you.
+ Cancellation, Make-up + Sick Policies
CANCELLATION POLICY:
Fitness Alive has a 24-hour cancellation policy. Cancellations must be through the Fitness Alive Portal:
- Early cancellation with at least 24 hours notice - Eligible for a make-up.
- Late cancellation with less than 24 hours notice, and no-shows - Not eligible for a make-up.
If you are in a semiprivate swim lesson, please note this ADDITIONAL CANCELLATION/MAKE-UP POLICY:
- Early Cancellations for Semiprivates: If one partner in a semiprivate early-cancels a lesson, the entire lesson will be early-canceled for both partners. This means the second partner will not be able to keep the lesson time as a private on the date that was canceled by their partner. Semiprivate make-ups resulting from early cancellations must be completed with both partners. If you plan to take a lesson with a friend, you will need to coordinate a make-up time with that friend. Separate private make-ups will not be allowed for semiprivate swimmers
- Late Cancellations for Semiprivates: If a semiprivate partner late cancels or no-shows, this is considered a “charged” lesson so the semiprivate partner who did not cancel can keep their normal lesson time and swim on their own.
SICK POLICY:
A last-minute cancellation due to illness — just like any cancellation with less than 24 hours notice — will be treated as a late-cancel and is not eligible for a make-up.
We understand this can be frustrating as a parent; we have kids, too, and know they sometimes just wake up sick! However, as a business, we need to honor our instructors' time and pay them for coming in for your lesson. Thank you for understanding.
Please also note that, to protect the health of our staff and other clients, Fitness Alive reserves the right to refuse services to swimmers who show symptoms of illness, at our discretion. They will be asked to leave the facility and are not eligible for a make-up.
In the event that a Fitness Alive coach is sick and needs to call out last minute, we will do everything we can to provide a sub. You will be notified about any substitutions. If you decide that you would prefer to not swim with a substitute instructor, you are permitted to late cancel your lesson. Late cancellations are not eligible for rescheduling or make-up.
In the event that a sub is not available for your swim time, you will be given a make-up you can schedule on your own for a later date.
