Important Update to COVID Policies

At Fitness Alive, we take our community’s health and safety seriously. For almost exactly two years, we have been navigating the COVID-19 pandemic — and all its ups and downs, shutdowns and re-openings — as we worked to create a place where our community members of all ages could feel safe while continuing to stay the course toward their swimming and fitness goals. We truly appreciate your partnership and support through these wild times.

Now, we’re heartened that the City of Philadelphia, along with many of its institutions and businesses, are moving to lift COVID-era restrictions and return to a bit of normalcy as the pandemic situation has significantly improved in our area. Likewise, Fitness Alive will move ahead to this next chapter by alleviating some of our stricter protocols effective immediately.

As always, we continually reassess our procedures and protocols based on new recommendations. As of now, the policies below outline what is in place at Fitness Alive. Changes to this plan may happen at any time and are communicated via email to active clients. You can always find our most up-to-date protocols here.

Our COVID Safety Protocols

Updated 3/9/22

FACE MASK POLICY

Face masks are now optional on deck and in locker rooms at all Fitness Alive facilities. We reserve the right to require masking at our facilities at any time if new guidance warrants it.

  • Swim Coaches will continue to wear plastic face shields when in the water during lessons and classes. Coaches may remove face shields after lessons, on deck, and in locker rooms.

VACCINE REQUIREMENTS

  1. For employees: All Fitness Alive staff, swim coaches and managers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and proof of vaccination will continue to be a hiring requirement for the foreseeable future.

  2. For clients: Fitness Alive will keep its proof-of-vaccine requirement for all services that currently require it until Friday, April 8th. Beginning on April 9th, we will discontinue the vaccine requirement for all services except the following:

    • Narwhals Clinics for Spring 2022

    • Fitness Alive Summer Camps for 2022

Those enrolled in the services listed above may submit a photo of their vaccine card here. We reserve the right to require vaccination for any service at any time if new guidance warrants it.

*A person is considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after the second dose of a two-shot vaccine, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine.

SICK POLICY

  1. Swimmers who feel sick must stay home. Visibly ill clients will be asked to leave at Fitness Alive’s discretion and late-cancel fees will apply.

  2. If a staff member feels ill, he/she will stay home. If it is a swim coach, a sub will be provided or lessons will be canceled at no charge.

  3. For persons exposed to COVID or those who receive a positive COVID test result, we will follow the CDC’s quarantine guidance, as described here. Please alert us immediately at appointments@fitnessalivephilly.com if your swimmer is directly exposed to COVID or has a positive test result so we can make the appropriate schedule adjustments.
